The following minimum prerequisite courses can be in progress during the application process, but must be completed before the start of classes, with grades of “C” or better and a cumulative GPA in these course areas of no less than “B” (3.0). 

Courses used toward the prerequisite biological and physical science requirements should be taken through the appropriate science departments (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics) and should be directed towards Science Majors. 

When calculating the prerequisite GPA, Arcadia includes all attempts of the courses in the prerequisite areas. A grade of “C-” is not acceptable for the prerequisite courses. You can receive an admissions decision with no more than 4 of these classes outstanding or in progress. Three of the eleven prerequisite courses, including Physiology and Statistics, must be no older than 10 years prior to submitting your application.

A gross human or mammalian anatomy course with a lab that provides students with a detailed examination of all structural aspects of the human body. The 2-course sequence of A&P 1 and 2 (see below for Physiology requirement) with a lab is also acceptable. 

A full systems physiology course with a lab is required. The 2-course sequence of A&P 1 and 2 with a lab is also acceptable.

Any biology course with BIO prefix and a lab will fulfill this requirement. The lecture should be at least 3 credits and the lab should be at least 1 credit, for a minimum of 4 credits needed to satisfy this requirement.  

At least one upper-level course (300 to 400 level) of at least 3 credits with a biology focus is required. This course should preferably be taken through a biology department, but can be taken through another department, such as exercise science or kinesiology, as long as the course content is primarily biology-based. 

A minimum requirement of Chemistry 1 and Chemistry 2 (4-credit hour each) lab/lecture course is required and must be directed toward science majors. Introductory classes will not be accepted for this requirement. Other acceptable courses include: Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry

A minimum requirement of General Physics 1 and 2 (4-credit hour) lab/lecture courses are required and must be directed toward science majors. Physics courses do not have to be calculus based. Introductory classes will not be accepted and both physics courses must be taken through the respective science department. 

At least one (3-credit hour) course in Psychology is required. This course should have a PSYC prefix.

One additional (3-credit hour) course in Behavioral Science is required. This can be satisfied by a second Psychology course or by a Sociology or Anthropology course. The courses should have either an SOC or ANTH prefix, respectively.

At least one (3-credit hour) Statistics course is required. May be taken through Math, Business or Psychology departments.
